Colorado Eastern - Supplies
After rolling the sod and clearing the area for the layout, it was time to cut the lumber. Remember I promised simple? The key was to buy standard materials in common sizes so that ANYONE could replicate this design with a minimum of trouble.

The framework will be built of 4x4 posts with 2x6 planks attached to the inside of the posts. A quick note about lumber: a 4x4 is actually 3.5" x 3.5" and a 2x6 is 1.75"x5.5"so be careful when you measure and cut.

PROJECT DATE: 09/01/03

All pieces are cut with 45 degree ends... and every corner of the layout will be either a 45 degree joint or a 90 degree joint. Therefore, every piece on the entire layout can be cut with the exact same angle on the ends, and every piece will always create a 45 or 90 degree joint that just slides right into place - but remember, MEASURE TWICE - cut once!

Basic tools required: Skill saw, drill, square, level, hammer
Nice to have but not necessary: Radial arm saw
LUMBER: 11-  8' 4x4's, 23 - 10' 2x6's
